Hi everyone, here is some of my must do in Brussels for a weekend. Actually, there is a lot of monuments to see in the heart of Brussels (such as the Grand Place, the Mont des Arts,…..) but also outside of the city (like the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Atomium,..). Ready ? Follow me !
# 1 City center
The city centre is the starting point. Particularly the Grand Place, the little streets, the Royal Galleries St Hubert, the BD walls…..and, of course, the famous Belgium waffles and beers. Take some time to find all the BD walls dispatched in the city like the one in the Bourse place. Walk a little more you will arrive at the famous Grand Place. During your stay you might encounter the Beer festival, in September, hence it made the city really lively.
# 2 Mount of Art and Basilica of the Sacred Heart
The Mont of Art is near the royal palace (you can’t visit it but the gardens are nice for a picnic or to lay down) and it’s located in the neighbourhood called the Sablons. Therefore, the Mont of Arts is on top of a little hill from which you can have a view on the city. Moreover, you can take a bus or the subway to see the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. I really recommend you to go see it due to its particular architecture.
# 3 Old neighbourhood
Enjoy a walk in the Marolles (Marollen) which is the old neighbourhood. Brussels is also well-know due to the European authorities, the “European neighbourhood”. To end the day, I recommend you to sit near the Arch of the fiftieth or in the parc du Cinquantenaire. Eventually take the subway (Heysel / Heizel (ligne 6) to see the famous Atomium.
Lovely pictures. Looks like a load of fun.
Thank you and, yes, we had a lot of fun. There is so much to do, see and eat in the city. I hope I will visit other cities in Belgium ^^.
Definitely on my list of places to visit! I love your pictures, especially the Belgium waffles. YUM! I will make sure to see the Grand Place per your recommendation. Sounds lovely!
